Frequently Asked Questions

Aim High Ascent

  • Yes. In addition to several BCBAs that create and oversee treatment plans, we have BTs that undergo a 40-hour mandatory training course that covers both the ethics of behavioral science and the techniques of ABA.

  • Yes. Our team is both trained in safety care and is experienced with severe behaviors.

  • The exact behaviors we target are dependent on the goals created by you. Broadly, this is divided into redirecting and reducing behavior and constructing new behaviors.

These targeted behaviors are those that will increase the access your child has to their environment. For example, a child who has the behavior of putting everything in their mouth will be redirected to doing something else that has less potential danger.

  • Wait times vary. We take into account your child’s behaviors and situation. Generally, the more urgent the need, the shorter the wait times. We will call you when there is a spot that is opening up.

  • No. We don’t have a firm timeframe for when those programs will open, so we are not taking inquiries for them. We’ll let you know on social media and this website when we start taking inquiries.

  • All of our staff are fully vaccinated and wearing masks as recommended by the CDC.

  • We are open 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday all year round. We do close for major holidays, so keep an eye on our calendar.

  • We are covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield, Providence Health Plans, Moda Health, Cigna, PacificSource Health Plans, and United Healthcare.

  • Costs will vary depending on your insurance plan, but you will likely hit your maximum out-of-pocket costs. We do perform a benefits check as part of our intake process, and will let you know your specific costs.

  • We offer a 6-month contract with a requirement for a 30-day notice if leaving before the contract finishes.

Our Therapy

  • For the initial session, bring 2 sets of clothing that are labeled with your child’s name – including underwear and socks – that are in a labeled container as well as any hygiene items specific to your child (diapers, cream, etc.). These will be kept in-center to be replaced as needed.

    Please bring for every session:

An insulated lunch box with 1 snack for half-days, and 2 snacks and a lunch for full-days.

    A spill-proof water bottle

A toiletry case that includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, washcloth, and a hairbrush.

  • This will be determined based on your child's goals and needs. Your child will work with their therapist on specific skills with movement and sensory breaks built-in throughout the session. We also maintain a schedule of morning snacks at 10am, lunch at 12pm, and an afternoon snack at 2pm.

  • You will be setting goals for your child during biannual meetings as well as attending scheduled sessions. These sessions will take place during regular therapy hours and will help you carry therapy from in-center to home. Depending on your child’s needs, you may be asked to participate in up to half of your child’s sessions.

  • No. Aim High Ascent is not a school. We focus on addressing the behaviors and symptoms that accompany autism.

  • Your child will be assigned two BTs: one for the morning and one for the afternoon. We select staff based on availability, personality assessment, skill set, and experience. Staff will be rotated at least twice a year.

  • No. We do not offer sessions outside of our stated hours.

Applied Behavior Analysis

  • Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is therapy that improves quality of life through positive reinforcement. Therapists break down complex tasks into small pieces. Going piece by piece, therapists will ensure their clients have mastered each small portion until they can perform the complex task in its entirety.

  • No. Autism is not something that can be cured and ABA does not aim to do so. We provide tools that can help people with autism ease the friction between themselves and the world around them.
